As the central city of the metropolitan Asan Bay area that is emerging as a high-tech industrial zone, it borders Cheonan to the east, Dangjin to the west, Yesan and Gongju to the south, and Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi-do, with Asan Bay between them to the north.
