Black Hawk is a city in Gilpin County, located directly adjacent to Central City. A historic mining town, it was founded in 1859 as a result of the Colorado Gold Rush. Having fallen on hard times, the two towns were revived when a state-wide iniative legalized casino gambling in 1990.
