Perth

The City of Perth is the central Local Government Area of Metropolitan Perth, the 4th largest metropolitan area and urban area in Australia. It is also the capital of the state of Western Australia.

The City of Perth, which measures 12.7 km², includes the inner-city areas of Metropolitan Perth, and most notably the areas central business district located along the Swan River just inland from the Indian Ocean.

Metropolitan Perth, a statistical division, which includes over 30 Local Government Areas, measures 5,386 km², with a population of 1,507,949 (2006).
