Even though Phoenix has a population of over one million people the tallest building is only 40 stories high. Phoenix's development dosn't focus on highrises for Downtown but on master planned communities outside the central city area.
Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the United States and is located in one of the fastest growing metropolian areas in the US.
Due to the nearby Sky Harbor Internatonal Airport the cities skyscrapers can not go any taller than 520 feet. Which is one of the reasons Phoenix doesn't have supertalls.
Today the Phoenix's suburbs such as Gilbert, Mesa, and Chandler continue to grow as more families move into master planned communites while Phoenix is building midrise condominiums. |
