Karlsruhe is a port city and municipality in the far-west of Baden-Württemberg, located on the French-German border along the Rhine. It is surrounded by the district of the same name, but politically independent of it.
The town is very interesting in its physical layout, with the city radiating in a circle from the central Schloss Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe Castle).
Karlsruhe is home to Germany's largest oil refinery, and is also known as the internet capital of Germany because of all of the internet service providers based in the city.
