Allentown

Allentown is the third largest city in Pennsylvania and was originally named Northamptontown. In 1838, the city officially adopted the name Allentown. The city sits along the Lehigh River and is the seat of Northampton County.

Allentown holds historical significance as the location where the Liberty Bell was hidden by the Continental Congress during a portion of the American Revolutionary War. Allentown is also home to Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, one of the world's most popular amusement parks.

Allentown is the largest of three adjacent cities that comprise an area of Pennsylvania known as the Lehigh Valley. The population of the metropolitan area is over 740,000.
