Originally proposed as a 43 storey tower along with it's twin, 2 Triad Center. Later reduced to two 35 storey towers.
Groundbreaking for 1 Triad Center was held Friday, June 7th, 1985. However, financing problems delayed construction and eventually the project was cancelled.
Only the buildings at the NE corner of this block, the current Triad Center, were ever built. The plot for the tower, at the SW corner of the block, remains a parking lot to this day (2009).
