- Construction Started on the Venetian on April 14, 1997.
The 475 foot tower topped off August 18, 1998. The 1.5 billion resort opened May 3, 1999.
- Original Plans for the Venetian included two towers 3,000 units each, making the Venetian the largest hotel in the world with 6,000 rooms.
- On the site of the Former 16 Story, Sands Hotel & Casino, which was imploded on November 26, 1996.
