- The building was designed as part of a much larger development, but economic events conspired so that it was the only part of the complex ever built.
- Market Towers was developed by the Covent Garden Market Authority as its headquarters, but the authority was forced to sell the building a mere five years after its completion by the government of the UK.
- Market Towers was demolished to make way for the "One Nine Elms" development, which includes two mixed-use towers of residential apartments, office space, retail and a hotel designed by architects KPF.
