Description Tower carries a radar of German Flight Control Agency.
The radar is used for surveiling flight traffic in 270 kilometres around Gosheim.
Radar data are transmitted to air traffic controllers to Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Zürich, Frankfurt Main, München, Friedrichshafen airport.
First there was a radar consting of 19 parabolic dishes with 6 metres diametres on the tower. In 1998 this radar device, which went in service in 1975 was replaced by a smaller one.
