- In 1967, The Gothic-Styled Times Tower was stripped down to the steel structure and recladed to a modern building and later covered in billboards.
- Every year the countdown to the New Year is broadcast on television from here, then New Year's Eve Times Square Ball drops during the countdown to the New Year.
