Description - The former Maxim Hotel was renovated and reopened as the Westin Casuarina on November 6, 2003. The building's exterior was notibly revamped from a glass facade to its current form.
- The Maxim's casino closed in 1999, leasing the hotel to close in 2001 due to disputes between the casino operator and hotel owners. It did not reopen until 2003 as the Westin Casuarina.
- The Maxim was the site of the shooting death of famous rapper Tupac Shakur in 1996.
