Silkwind was to become Vancouver Island's tallest building, eclipsing Nanaimo's 26-storey, 76m, Beacon condominium.
A pit for the building's foundation was dug out, although the project was put on hold shortly thereafter.
After the project stalled, the developer stated a number of times over the next couple of years that it would resume, but it never did.
If built, Silkwind would have been the first suburban highrise on Victoria's west shore.
Sales website for the project was http://www.silkwindwestshore.ca/ but is now offline (2010).
