In 2004, HNTB Architects released a vision for a 1,000 room Convention Center Hotel and a project entitled "Truman Boulevard".

A study released in early 2007 suggested that City Hall build a 1,000 room Convention Center Hotel in Downtown as soon as possible and at latest by 2011. The City and developers began discussing possible locations for the hotel, among them are south of the Power and Light Tower, and north of the Sprint Center arena. More in depth analysis by City Hall are taking place.
