Description Old Federal style Courthouse shows scars from the shelling it received during the Civil War, when just before the Battle of Gettysburg Jeb Stuart and his Confederate troops invaded the town, battled Union soldiers on the Square and burned Carlisle Barracks. It's restored courtroom still in use and serves as additional offices for the county. New courthouse built directly across the square. Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
