• The Philadelphia Historic Commission designated the building a historic site in 1983. In 1930, the architects received an award for the design of 1616 Walnut Street at the 12th International Buildings Congress in Budapest. Former site of the Temple University Center City campus. The five-story parking garage on the Chancellor Street side was part of the original construction, and was still considered a novelty at the time of completion in 1929.
