Description Architect: Busby + Associates Architects
Developer: Wall Financial Corp.
One Wall Centre became one of the the tallest buildings in Vancouver at the time of its construction. The only structure in the city which was taller than it is the antenna on the top of Harbour Centre.
The two-toned appearance of One Wall Centre was the result of a conflict between the building's developer and Vancouver City Hall. During construction, dark blue glass was installed on the lower two-thirds of the building. City Hall did not like the look of the dark glass and so forced the developer to change to lighter glass, dispite the developer bribing city hall with three million dollars.
The original design was to have two double-height garden levels one-third and two-thirds of the way up the tower. The lobby was to have a 60 foot ceiling.
Width: 21.3m
