The first main cathedral was built in 1532 with stones of Templo Mayor Mexica temple, but destroyed in 1626
With 7140 sq.meters, damaged on 1845 by an earthquake, caught on fire in 1967, with measurements in 1973 after deformations on 300 years of existence, with uneven of 2.2 meters betwen Altar to the southwest tower, was repaired & refounded from 1974 to 1985 but tnew damages appears by Earthquakes of that year, from 1994 to 2000 receive a new refoundation works.
