Description This building is the headquarters of the Russian parliament.
In 1993 opponents of President Boris Yeltsin in the parliament attempted to impeach him. Yeltsin disbanded the parliament, but they didn't give up power easily and attempted a coup. On October 4, 1993 tanks were sent in to shell this building. About 100 people were killed in the battle in which Yeltsin's troops captured this building and the coup leaders.
Architect: D Tchetchulin
