Description
Architect: Pei Cobb Freed & Partners Architects LLP - pcfandp.com

• A number of engineering issues discovered during construction significantly increased the final cost of the John Hancock Tower. These issues involved wind resistance, building sway, and window failures to an extent that earned it the nickname “Plywood Palace” among locals based on the number of plywood backfilled windows.
• An observation deck was previously located on the building’s 60th floor and has since been closed due to “security concerns” after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
