Description Built in 1599 to house Shakespeare's company, the original Globe Theatre was where many of Shakespeare's plays were presented for the first time.
It was damaged in a fire in 1613, and destroyed in the English Civil War of 1643.
The Globe Theater was rebuilt in the 1990s on a site near the location of the original.
