• The building has 2 concrete cores for elevators, one with 4 at one facade and another with 8 in the middle. Those cores serve as structure forces elements as well.

• This building, an important work of Poland imigrant influenced by mid-twentieth century Brazilian modernism, had a major fire in its basement level on 11 January, 2005, injuring 68 people.

• History:
- A requirement of Ex-Owners was given to city Hall for the construction of a building in the site of Rua Formosa to complement the Esplanada Hotel. This building of Architect Elisário Bahiana to be called Esplanada Apartamentos would have 28 storeys and 35800m² of area with style Beaux-Arts.
- The technicians of City Hall denied the height of building of 121.5m and the project was treated in special case. The height was reduced to 94.5m with other modifications like a saloon to be replaced for a cinema and mechanical ventilation.
- In February 1946, the construction was on-hold for a long period of time, due to unkwown reasons.
- Another requirement is given to City Hall for concluding the building, when Polnish Architect Korngold took the project and makes a lot of modifications in projects already approved in 1938 and 1941, when elements in the today appearance of project is seen.
- Initially the building proposed from architect would be of 3 blocks, 2 for offices and 1 for hotel, with facade to Rua Formosa and Parque Anhangabaú, using the same foundations of architect Elisiário Bahiana of previous project to the site.
- This project would have heights of 75m for structure and 92m for whole structure. The project would be simplist using a grille independent of structure in whole facade of 1.2m suspended with 0.6m deep at front the windows. Technicians of City Hall required 2 years to approve this project, but decided to not do, concluding that the structure would be too modern for the adjacent old buildings. This decision postponed the continue of construction for long time.
- Only in March 1947, a letter to City Hall made the approve for continuing the project, but with modifications in facade. In July 1947 a newer project was presented. The volume was even more modern simplist with the crone all together in one block, already proposed to Rio De Janeiro city in 1943.
- The building was to be in Steel, but the CSN - Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional could not deliver it yet in 1946 and if imported, it would increase the cost too much. The decision made it to change to concrete.
- The final project is a facade grille in the north, south and east with 50cm wall grille a front the windows, seen as brise soleil structure, not used further. Great Influences of Le Corbusier.
- The building is included in the historical register of city to be preserved the facade characteristics.
